CSNM today
Currently we have more than 2300 members from across the country. Most members work in either acute care or long-term care facilities.

CSNM accredits 10 college programmes offering diplomas in Nutrition and Foodservice Management. Accreditation assures that all programmes are teaching the fundamental basics while meeting the eight core competencies as set out by CSNM. This assures that a graduate from an accredited programme will meet certain entry level standards of the profession. Programmes are granted up to a five year accreditation certificate assuring regular reviews and maintaining of standards. Graduates from accredited programmes are recognised by employers as having the skills necessary to enter the workforce as a qualified Nutrition Manager.

The eight core competencies on which SNM bases the accreditation standards and all continuing education for members are:
1. Professionalism
2. Quality Management
3. Nutrition and Healthy Lifestyle
4. Clinical Nutrition
5. Food Service Systems Management
6. Human Resources Management
7. Financial and Business Management
8. Marketing and Promotion

CSNM events
CSNM offers two conferences per year, once in the spring and again in the fall. Conferences rotate from province or region assuring members have a chance to attend a local educational event on a regular basis. Currently, there are six active provincial chapters which also offer educational opportunities for members. CSNM offers an education grant on a yearly basis to those chapters hosting a conference.

The CSNM Board
The CSNM Board consists of the executive, which includes the President, President-Elect, Past President and Secretary/ Treasurer. Officers of the Board include Admissions/ Membership, Education, Accreditation, and Public Relations. Active provincial chapters each have a Provincial Representative on the Board who acts as the liaison between the provincial chapters and CSNM. At the moment we also have an ad-hoc chair, Continuing Education which will soon be included as an Officer of the Board. The Board meets monthly, either in person or by teleconference.

Thanks to a very proactive Board, CSNM has been busy on many new initiatives, including a new magazine, updated website, and a new continuing education programme for all members. We have recently revised our mission statement and are in the process of updating our bylaws.
